Corporate Carbon takes on in-house counsel

Corporate Carbon Advisory is pleased to announce the engagement of Nick James as in-house legal counsel to focus primarily on carbon regulatory issues. The formalisation of this role adds to the company’s existing services for carbon project owners, making Corporate Carbon Advisory a true one-stop carbon shop. Nick James joined Corporate Carbon Advisory in December 2011 and has worked full-time with the company as an Executive Consultant, performing a variety of carbon professional duties.

Nick James has a first class honours law degree from the University of Melbourne and worked previously as a solicitor at top tier firms Allens and Freehills, and as an Associate to Justice Michael Kirby at the Australian High Court. Other relevant carbon industry experience includes co-founding ‘Optim Legal’, a Sydney based law firm that focused on the carbon/cleantech space and counted among its clients a selection of Australia’s leading carbon companies. Nick was Managing Director and, although not practising law at Optim Legal, his role in the firm lead to his inclusion in ‘Sydney's 100 Most Influential People in 2010’ by the(sydney)magazine in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Matthew Warnken, Managing Director of Corporate Carbon Advisory, said, “We are delighted to add specialist in-house legal capacity to assist our clients to monetise greenhouse gas abatement.” Matthew added, “Nick has been a valued member of Corporate Carbon and has been a key part of many of our successes to date. Navigating the shifting carbon regulatory framework with a high-calibre carbon professional like Nick will assist Corporate Carbon Advisory in maintaining its cutting edge leadership in the Australian carbon project development market.”
