Corporate Carbon turns 10
Trailblazing carbon pioneer Mathew Warnken (centre) steps down as Managing Director to focus on regenerative agriculture as Corporate Carbon celebrates 10 years.
Corporate Carbon Advisory announced that Matthew Warnken was stepping down as Managing Director at their 10-year anniversary celebration on Friday. He will remain as Chair of Corporate Carbon and will focus on his role as Managing Director of AgriProve – a soil carbon solutions company spun out from Corporate Carbon in 2018 to scale regenerative agriculture.
Seaweed and Ocean Carbon
We recently participated in Ocean Impact Organisation 2020 Ocean Pitch Fest.
Learn more about Ocean Impact Organsation on their Linkedin page and their website.
Our video pitch is provided below.
The Finalists were shortlisted from almost 200 applications received from 38 countries, with nearly 50% of the applications coming from Australia.
Our participation in the competition was with The Southern Ocean Carbon Company. A big shout out to the great work done by Adam Brancher and team.
The team grow seaweed in Southern Tasmania to combat climate change.
Resource recovery projects
Our operations team undertook assessments of a number of waste facilities during this quarter, including the Biomass Solutions Resource Recovery project located at Port Macquarie, NSW. The team also worked with the SMRC Resource Recovery project, located south of Perth in WA.
The Alternative Waste Treatment (AWT) method promotes construction of new AWT facilities or expansion of existing AWT facilities to increase the capacity of waste that would otherwise have gone to landfill, into products (such as compost, fuel or biogas) and increase recovery of resources including plastics, glass and metals.
The Source Separated Organic Waste (SSOW) method relates to separating organic materials from other waste to avoid sending organic matter to landfill. Separating organic waste and processing it, including donating surplus food to registered charities, reduces the amount of waste that goes to landfill, and so mitigates methane emissions generated in landfill.
We have created a project page containing a full range of details, personal insights and video material for our SMRC project for you.
For organisations aiming for carbon neutrality through credit purchase, ACCUs are available for this project that delivers a range of co-benefits for community and the environment.
Carbon Market Institute 2020 Summit
The Carbon Market Institute (CMI), the peak industry body, hosted the 7th Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit. Hosting around 600 business leaders and professionals, sub-national and national government leaders, the conference was held virtually for the first time.
Corporate Carbon was a gold sponsor of the Summit, providing a virtual booth and a session chaired by Matthew Warnken, MD of our sister company AgriProve. The session Technology Pathways for Soil Carbon and Regenerative Agriculture discussed the solutions needed to store carbon in our soils, tackle agricultural emissions, and increase on-farm productivity benefits at scale.
CMI were delighted with the level of engagement, interaction, exchange and debate at this very first, wholly virtual event. The annual Summit is an important event for Australian business to come together to strengthen ambition and pathways to a net-zero future.
ACCU Lab
We have launched our world-first initiative, our interactive ‘ACCU Lab’ this quarter:
This process aims to maximise carbon project opportunities, such as enabling stacking of different project types.
For example, ACCU Lab can include:
opportunities to implement:
land-based activities, and
non-land-based methods
abatement calculations tutorial
project activities and methodologies under the CSF
a discussion about the range of benefits from generating ACCUs
requirements for successful carbon activities to achieve net zero emissions
co-benefits from net zero emission activities.
a discussion on pilot opportunities
financial implications of activities
The workshop session is designed to promote discussion and to establish how carbon projects may best be suited for your needs.
Climate Active certification
Corporate Carbon has been certified Carbon Neutral by Climate Active. Our organisation is now a network member with a growing network of forward thinking organisations.
Climate Active is Australia’s collective initiative for climate action.
Driven by members and activated by consumers, Climate Active is a unique government-backed program that enables businesses, government and the community to reduce carbon emissions.
Climate Active empowers the community to support organisations taking positive action on climate change.
Climate Active is a collective network of like-minded climate leaders.
Climate Active certification is awarded to businesses and organisations that have credibly reached a state of achieving net zero emissions, otherwise known as carbon neutrality.
Our Ocean Impact pitch video
Our team at Corporate Carbon are aiming to find ocean based climate solutions and are really happy to have participated in the competition with the Tasmanian team, Southern Ocean Carbon Company.
