A year in rodeos and campdrafts at Paniri Agricultural Co.
In 2025, Paniri Agricultural Co. has been proud to support rodeos and campdrafts across the regions where we live and work. Our involvement goes beyond skill and horsemanship — it’s about backing the communities that sustain Australia’s beef industry, strengthening connections, and celebrating a unique part of rural life. As members of Cattle Australia and the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association, we are committed to the future of the industry and the communities at its heart.
2-3 May: Eureka Creek Stockman’s Charity Draft
This year, Paniri Agricultural Co. sponsored the Maiden Division of the Eureka Creek Campdraft, Rodeo and Races. An iconic annual event near our Far North Queensland stations, the program also featured novice and junior categories, along with a ladies’ bullock ride, which saw Holroyd Station’s Manager, Charlotte Berrett compete in fine form showcasing the breadth of talent in our team. Local businesses joined forces to sponsor the maiden category, with Paniri providing the first-place cash prize, 1 Horse Helicopter and Clarke’s Contracting supplying trophies, and TGT Pty Ltd contributing horse feed for second and third places.
28-30 June: Laura Rodeo and Campdraft
Cape York’s Laura Rodeo and Campdraft, run entirely by volunteers, has been held over two days in winter since 1977. Situated close to Crystalvale Station—part of an extensive corridor of nature refuges—it remains a highlight of the regional events calendar. This year, Paniri Agricultural Co. was proud to be a major sponsor, with our station manager volunteering as the announcer and many of our employees and their families taking part in the competitions. Competitors travelled from far and wide to contest the Cutout Shootout (pictured), watching and waiting for their turn to demonstrate their skill and horsemanship before hundreds of onlookers.
24-27 July: Eureka Creek Campdraft, Rodeo and Races
Not to be confused with the Stockman’s Rodeo held in May, the Eureka Creek Campdraft, Rodeo and Races is a vibrant mid-winter event also hosted in Far North Queensland’s Dimbulah. This year, Paniri Agricultural Co. sponsored judging across the event’s many categories. Our Northern Queensland and Northern Territory Regional Manager, Dan Miller, also helped coordinate several logistical elements, while some of our team travelled to compete. “The Eureka Creek Campdraft, Rodeo and Races brought families together to enjoy a long weekend of camping, food and live entertainment,” said Dan. “Definitely an event to keep an eye on for next time.”
15-16 August: Cunnamulla Show
Held in South-western Queensland near our Paroo River Stations, Paniri Agricultural Co. was pleased to sponsor the rookie and novice categories in the Cunnamulla Show’s inaugural Stockman’s Challenge. The weekend was a fantastic chance to celebrate local talent, connect with the community, and see our team and their families enjoying the action. “Paniri was proud to be part of making the inaugural Stockman’s Challenge a weekend to remember,” said our Operations Manager, Helen Wyatt.
22-23 August: Weipa Rodeo
Founded in 2003 by passionate local residents, Cape York’s Weipa Rodeo, run entirely by volunteers, is touted as a community event like no other. Paniri Agricultural Co.’s Watson River Station managers Tegan Wallace and Dale Sommer were pleased to participate. Absolutely smashing it, Tegan took home first and third place in barrel racing (a fast-paced rodeo event where a horse and rider race around three barrels arranged in a cloverleaf pattern) and a brilliant time was had by all. “The atmosphere was electric, with dust, sweat, cheers, and plenty of rodeo spirit,” said Tegan.
