Corporate Carbon Group congratulates the Albanese Government on its re-election and welcomes the opportunity to continue working together on one of the greatest challenges of our time: addressing climate change.

The coming term presents a critical opportunity to build on progress in the carbon market and strengthen Australia’s pathway to a low-emissions, climate-resilient future.

A strong carbon market that functions with high-integrity is essential to delivering Australia’s emissions targets, but it must also work effectively for the communities and landscapes where projects are being developed.

At Corporate Carbon, we remain deeply committed to supporting outcomes that are not only environmental, but also economic and social, particularly in regional and remote areas.

A key priority for immediate action is the finalisation of the Savanna Fire Management (SFM) methodology. This update has been under review for more than three years and is now urgently needed. SFM projects are critical to Australia, providing Traditional Owners, landholders and local organisations with meaningful employment, income, and land management opportunities. The continued delay in progressing this methodology is creating significant uncertainty across the sector and undermining the stability of existing projects.

It’s also holding back new investment, at a time when we need to be scaling up high-integrity, community-led carbon solutions.

We encourage the Government to move swiftly to release the updated SavCAM tool, which is essential to allow public consultation on the SFM methodology to resume. Progress here will demonstrate the Government’s ongoing commitment to a functioning and transparent carbon market.

We understand the complexity of reforming methodologies and the importance of rigour. But speed and certainty also matter – especially for developers, communities and investors working in good faith to contribute to Australia’s climate goals.

Corporate Carbon stands ready to support this work. We are a constructive and experienced partner, deeply embedded in the carbon market, and committed to working collaboratively with government and industry to get these reforms right.

Australia has the opportunity – and responsibility – to lead. With the right policy settings and a shared commitment to delivery, the carbon market can become a powerful tool for climate action, economic opportunity and landscape restoration.
